Professional Profile

Michael was born and raised in Miami, Florida.  The son of a utilities executive and a real estate manager, Michael grew up in the South Florida business community.  Michael attended Christopher Columbus High School before matriculating to the University of Florida where he earned a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in 2003.  Michael then attended the University of Florida, Levin College of Law where he graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 2006.

Michael began his legal career serving as an Assistant State Attorney in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.  While at the State Attorney’s Office, Michael represented the State of Florida in Miami-Dade County Criminal Court and in the Circuit Criminal Court for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.  Representing the State of Florida, Michael was lead trial counsel in numerous successful criminal jury and bench trials.  Michael was quickly promoted to being a county training attorney and supervised a trial division of five trial attorneys in the Criminal County Court Division.  Michael also successfully represented the State of Florida in a number of appeals before beginning his civil career in 2009.

As a civil attorney, Michael immediately turned to representing banks, financial institutions, real estate developers and multi-national corporations as lead trial counsel in various state and federal litigation.  Michael has served as lead trial counsel in civil bench and jury trials ranging from commercial line of credit disputes, commercial fraud claims, derivatives litigation disputes, disputes over complex financing agreements, international shipping disputes, commodities contract claims, contract and quasi-contract disputes, commercial negligence and fiduciary and malpractice claims.

Michael has also successfully represented banks and real estate developers in numerous real estate lien disputes, mitigating and removing real estate liens filed by municipalities and other governmental entities.  This lien mitigation practice frequently requires Michael to work with municipalities and appear before city commissions and code enforcement boards to resolve code disputes and satisfy liens clouding the title to our client’s real estate inventory.

Finally, Michael heads the Firm’s transaction practice.  He frequently works with the Firm’s business clients to draft and organize the various agreements, memoranda and other operating documents required to protect our client’s business interests in a South Florida business market, which is constantly growing in both size and complexity.

Michael lives in Miami with his wife Maribel and their three children Ethan, Jasmin and Eva Dot.
